After flying high against North Valley Christian Academy last Friday, Glendale Prep Academy came back down to earth. The Griffins took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. John Paul II Catholic Lions on Tuesday. The Griffins' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Logan Middendorf was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Josiah Simms made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Carter Blake was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases.
