The Laney Buccaneers waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past North Brunswick with points to spare, taking the game 58-40. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Laney also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Joshua Helms was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Alan Studebaker was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Laney's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for North Brunswick, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.
Laney won't have much time to rest: their next match is against New Hanover at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. New Hanover is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for North Brunswick, they will head out on the road to square off against South Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Brunswick is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
