Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Stroudsburg South, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Louis E. Dieruff on Friday, sneaking past 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Liam Huffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Perez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season.
Tamaqua's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for East Stroudsburg South, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tamaqua has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Stroudsburg South struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
