Rio Grande is 0-10 against Del Norte since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Rio Grande Ravens will head out on the road to face off against the Del Norte Knights at 7:00 p.m. Rio Grande will be strutting in after a win while Del Norte will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Rio Grande strolled past Ramah with points to spare, taking the game 43-26. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rio Grande.
Meanwhile, Del Norte was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 37-32 to Espanola Valley. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Del Norte in their matchups with Espanola Valley: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite their defeat, Del Norte saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. India Hollis, who scored 10 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Bleona Agushi, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals.
Rio Grande now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Del Norte, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Rio Grande came up short against Del Norte in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 46-37. Can Rio Grande avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
