Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
For the season, McKenney averaged 22.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest. In a 63-52 win over North Farmington (Farmington Hills) in the Division 1 state title game, he posted 32 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 8 of 11 from the field and connecting on all 14 free throw attempts.
