After two games on the road, Gwynn Park is heading back home. They will take on the Douglass Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Gwynn Park humbled Surrattsville with a 75-29 victory. Given Gwynn Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Surrattsville is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Douglass was handed a three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Suitland on Thursday. Douglass breezed by Suitland on the road to the tune of 62-35.
Among those leading the charge was Solomon Lewis, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals. makhye mcknight was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists and two steals.
Gwynn Park's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Douglass, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Gwynn Park didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Douglass in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 68-64 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was mcknight, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 2 assists. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Gwynn Park still be able to contain mcknight? There's only one way to find out.
