Peebles is 1-8 against Eastern since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Peebles Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eastern Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Peebles is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Last Saturday, Peebles was able to grind out a solid victory over Southeastern, taking the game 46-37.
Payton Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Peebles' points. Angel Gray was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Eastern lost to Lynchburg-Clay at home by a decisive 54-37 margin last Monday. While losing is never fun, Eastern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while Lynchburg-Clay is ranked 186th).
Peebles pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Eastern, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Peebles came up short against Eastern when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 58-50. Can Peebles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
