The San Dimas Saints will head out to face off against the Charter Oak Chargers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Charter Oak will be up against a hot San Dimas squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. San Dimas came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Diamond Ranch.
San Dimas saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Martinez has posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, on Friday Charter Oak's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came out on top in a nail-biter against El Dorado, sneaking past 4-3.
Leila Diebert made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Mikayla Diebert was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Charter Oak pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for San Dimas, their record is now 9-5-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. San Dimas hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Charter Oak struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
San Dimas came up short against Charter Oak in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 6-1. Can San Dimas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
