Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Breckenridge walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Fulton Pirates on Friday as they made off with a 7-1 win. Considering the Huskies have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Adyson Collins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Breckenridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lydia Slavik, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Breckenridge, bringing their record up to 17-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fulton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
