5A Region II District 10 recap November 5, 2013
Boyd was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Plano East. The Broncos came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.
Allen added to the longest winning streak in 5A Region II District 10 this week by beating McKinney, 56-7. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Eagles.
Dedrick Scrivens was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 209 yards on 30 carries as Boyd defeated Plano West. Curtis Ladd also contributed to the rushing game with 73 yards on the ground.
On the heels of Ladd and Scrivens, Don Drake's team has had great success on offense. Ladd leads the league in passing with 1,637 yards, while Scrivens has rushed for 1,321 yards this season. The Lions' Tv Williams leads the league in receiving yards with 429 on 27 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Allen takes on second place Plano. Allen topped McKinney last week, while the Wildcats defeated the Wolves.
Brandon Stephens of the Plano is only 12 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Stephens has rushed for 988 yards on 163 carries so far this year.
One of 5A Region II District 10's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Broncos and Jeffrey Smith's team face off next week.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Eagles take on Jaydon Mccullough's team. Allen has allowed 168 points this season, while the Wildcats have given up 90. The Eagles allowed 7 points last week as they beat the Lions.
McKinney fell to Allen 56-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brian Sutter threw for 133 yards and 1 touchdown in the loss.
