Westview hasn't had much luck against Fairfield recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warriors will square off against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Westview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Westview took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Elkhart Christian Academy by a score of 6-2. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Ella Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Morgan Rich, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Fairfield sidestepped Tippecanoe Valley for a 3-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Fairfield also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Faith Berkey gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Madison Jones was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Westview's record now sits at 10-8. As for Fairfield, their record is now 13-7.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Fairfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westview couldn't quite finish off Fairfield when the teams last played back in April and fell 10-8. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
