Leigh has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Santa Teresa Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
While it was all tied up 29-29 at halftime, Leigh was not quite Branham's equal in the second half on Wednesday. Leigh fell to Branham 64-60. While losing is never fun, Leigh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while Branham is ranked 86th).
Leigh might have lost, but man, Caleb Asante was a machine: he shot 5-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Asante is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Smith, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Santa Teresa waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Christopher with a 66-61 victory.
Leigh's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Santa Teresa, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Leigh came up short against Santa Teresa in their previous matchup on January 3rd, falling 83-78. Can Leigh avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
