General Trass' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Weaver, who rushed for 65 yards and three scores on only nine carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards and one touchdown. The Panthers are 3-1 when Weaver posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Another passer making a difference was Keimare Campbell, who threw for 142 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: General Trass was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. They are 5-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
General Trass didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Damarion Berry, Jamarion Powell, and J'Bion Newson picked up one apiece. Newson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, West St. John got themselves on the board against Centerville on Friday, but Centerville never followed suit. They blew past the Bulldogs 46-0. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won four contests by 32 points or more so far this season.
General Trass better focus on containing Achtion Barnes and Kalon Gardner as the pair were huge in West St. John's win. Barnes threw for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes, while Gardner gained 124 total yards and a touchdown. Gardner's longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Xavier Poche was in the mix too, providing West St. John with one score.
West St. John's defense made their presence known, laying out Jaxon Frederick five times. Za'Kyrin Howard was especially locked on to Centerville's QB and sacked him three times. Howard has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 19 times he's played. West St. John received some extra help from Poche, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
The win got West St. John back to even at 5-5. As for General Trass, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
