West Stokes (King, N.C.) took an early lead against Surry Central (Dobson, N.C.) and held on for a 44-7 victory on Saturday.
In the first quarter, the Wildcats put up 15 points. West Stokes scored on a defensive touchdown and a
Rashad Witherspoon touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a defensive touchdown in the first quarter, WS led 30-0 at the half.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 30.
Witherspoon stood out for the King school in the win. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.
Surry Central's only touchdown came on a 32-yard run by Kenyon Martin in the third quarter.
The Wildcats went into the matchup giving up only 15.1 points per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for West Stokes, which lost to Carver last week, 14-0.
