The Sanger Apaches waltzed into Friday's matchup with six straight wins but they left with seven. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat San Joaquin Memorial 55-7 at home. Sanger might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six games by 27 points or more this season.
Israel Robles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 216 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per carry. Robles' longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Baker, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
When it comes to explaining why San Joaquin Memorial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Colbert. Despite the final result, he rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Sanger has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Edison and 3-8 Madera (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.5% over those games). As for San Joaquin Memorial, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Sanger will be playing in front of their home fans against Garces Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Garces Memorial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Sanger is ranked 42nd). San Joaquin Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
