Independence and the John Champe Knights will round out the year against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Independence will be strutting in after a win while John Champe will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Independence didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Freedom, but they still walked away with a 40-34 victory.
Jordan Ratliff was the offensive standout of the match as he scored ten points along with five rebounds. He also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Ian Grimes was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, John Champe suffered a tough 72-47 defeat at the hands of Norview on Saturday. While losing is never fun, John Champe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Norview is ranked 19th).
Independence now has a winning record of 3-2. As for John Champe, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Independence came up short against John Champe when the teams last played back in January of 2020, falling 69-58. Can Independence avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
