Willard is 3-0 against Central since August of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Willard Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Central Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Willard lost to Carthage on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin.
The losing side was boosted by Russell Roweton, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 165 yards and a touchdown. Roweton was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards.
Meanwhile, Central pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by Forsyth 65-35. Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Willard has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Willard against Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2020 as the team secured a 51-6 victory. Does Willard have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
