DeMatha has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Imhotep Charter Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. DeMatha has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 433 points over their last six games.
DeMatha is ranked highly in their home state, and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Bishop Ireton. DeMatha managed a 61-55 victory over Bishop Ireton. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Malcolm Thomas was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kade Sebastian, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Imhotep Charter stacked a fourth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 73-42 victory over West Philadelphia. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Imhotep Charter has posted since December 12, 2023.
DeMatha's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points per game. As for Imhotep Charter, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
DeMatha beat Imhotep Charter 56-43 in their previous matchup back in December of 2017. Will DeMatha repeat their success, or does Imhotep Charter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
