Basketball Game Preview: HALO Wolfpack vs. Promise Prepatory Academy Knights

HALO is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They will welcome the Promise Prepatory Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. HALO has given up an average of 54.2 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

HALO is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against New Creation Christian Academy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wolfpack were dealt a 75-45 defeat at the hands of the Crusaders. The Wolfpack were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-22.

Despite their loss, HALO saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kenneth Haynes, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards, was perhaps the best of all. Haynes has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 33 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Dukes, who posted nine points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Promise Prepatory Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Varsity Opponent 68-28. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Promise Prepatory Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for HALO, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
