Fairbury hasn't had much luck against Crete recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jeffs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. Fairbury will be strutting in after a win while Crete will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Fairbury turned things around against Twin River on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over the Titans.
Jacob Nippert was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fairbury is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-10 otherwise. Nippert was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dakotah Neumiller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Jamison Runge was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Central City/Centura hit Crete with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals fell 6-2 to the Kernels. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Kernels: they've now lost six in a row.
Brooks Piening made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-11. As for Crete, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fairbury has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crete struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fairbury might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from Crete when the teams last played back in March. Will the Jeffs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
