The Collins Hill Eagles will face off against the Dacula Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 986 yards in their previous games.
Collins Hill fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Mill Creek last Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The Eagles gained 83 more yards on the day, but it was the Hawks that made the best use of them.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jamel Tuff, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one score. Another pass catcher making a difference was Atticus Joseph, who picked up 99 receiving yards and one TD.
Even if they lost, Collins Hill's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Katrell Webb and Valiaku Kargbo, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, Dacula made sure to put some points up on the board against Mountain View on Friday. The Falcons claimed a resounding 61-24 win over the Bears. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won three games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Dacula had a senior duo take command as Garrison G Cantrell threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes and Isaac Kareem-Maman picked up 122 receiving yards and three scores. Kareem-Maman has become a key player for the Falcons: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Frankie Onumah was another key player, rushing for 48 yards and a pair of TDs.
Dacula was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 306 rushing yards. They are 4-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Dacula didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kobi Brown and Ace Turner.
Collins Hill's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4. As for Dacula, the victory also got them back to even at 4-4.
Collins Hill took their win against Dacula in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 53-28 score. In that matchup, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 32-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
