Baseline recap September 24, 2013
Los Osos scaled the state rankings by moving to 35 from 70 this week, the biggest jump in Baseline. The Grizzlies climbed the ranks as a result of beating Norco 21-7.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Rancho Cucamonga beat Murrieta Valley 34-19,. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Upland's dynamic duo of Tyler Hilinski and Marquis Wimberly proved to be unstoppable against Silverado, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hilinski threw for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns and Wimberly had 169 yards receiving. Trevor Wright helped Upland's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 81 yards.
The Highlanders/Scots' dynamic duo of Hilinski and Wimberly proved tough for the Hawks to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Wimberly was the best receiver in the league this week as Upland defeated Silverado.
Hilinski put up the best numbers in passing as Tim Salter's team topped Rafael Ginorio's team.
Amin Raad was the most successful running back in Baseline this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 101 yards as Glendora bested the Hawks. Teammate Matt Fink added to the ground attack by rushing for 31 yards.
Fink provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tartans defeated Ayala. Fink's key target this week was Ryan Moore, who caught 5 passes for 117 yards.
Upland's Hilinski and Wright have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hilinski has thrown for 980 yards this season, while Wright, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 24 catches for 503 yards. Alta Loma's Marcellus Hunter leads the league in rushing yards with 409.
Glendora and the Bulldogs played the most contested game in the league this week, with Glendora eventually emerging with a 20-17 victory. Fink threw for 253 yards in the win.
