Cisco extended their winning streak to ten on Tuesday, bumping them up to 13-6-2. They walked away with a 12-7 win over the Cross Plains Buffaloes. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Aubrey Corpus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Pearson Hearne was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Peyton Whisenhunt was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
As for Cross Plains, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5-1 record this season. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Like Cisco, Cross Plains also got a great game from a two-way player: Kenzie McLean. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and eight unearned) runs off seven hits. McLean was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Landry Barron made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Karsyn Bennett-Phillips also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Coming up, Cisco will take on Muenster at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Loboes will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least ten runs in their last 11 contests. As for Cross Plains, they will face off against Winters at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
