In what's become a running theme this season, the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They breezed by Tarboro at home to the tune of 55-15. The win was nothing new for SouthWest Edgecombe as they're now sitting on five straight.
Leading SouthWest Edgecombe to victory were Aaliyah Whitehead and Kd Collins. Whitehead dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals, while Collins dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 steals. Collins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was A'Chonacey (Chonie) Mabry, who scored four points along with five rebounds and five steals.
SouthWest Edgecombe is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Tarboro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. SouthWest Edgecombe will take on West Craven at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Craven is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Tarboro, they will be playing at home against Perquimans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Perquimans is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.
