With a playoff game on the line, the Folsom Bulldogs rose to the challenge on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Pirates out 28-25. The win was nothing new for Folsom as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Folsom found their leader in underclassman Ryder Lyons, who rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 191 yards and a touchdown while completing 78.6% of his passes. Lyons set a new season high mark in carries with 27.
Jamar Searcy and Marley Alcantara certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Searcy rushed for 159 yards while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, while Alcantara threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Searcy hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games.
Even if they lost, Pittsburg's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Jewelous Walls was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Folsom's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. As for Pittsburg, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-1.
Folsom will square off against St. Bonaventure at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (St. Bonaventure is ranked 28th, while Folsom is ranked 11th). Pittsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
