After a string of four wins, the Charlton County Indians's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 48-33 to Pelham. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Charlton County has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Charlton County had strong showings from Mahogany Steele, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds, and Trenity Hamilton, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hamilton has scored all season. Taylor Knox was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Charlton County were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pelham only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Pelham's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Truth Wimberly, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Sariyah Chester, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds.
Charlton County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Pelham, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlton County will square off against Calhoun County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pelham won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Turner County at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. Turner County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Pelham is ranked 134th).
