Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Irvine Vaqueros, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a tough 28-6 defeat at the hands of Jurupa Hills on Friday. Irvine's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Jurupa Hills can attribute much of their success to Jordan Pernillo, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Pernillo's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Derrick Pittman was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Irvine's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Jurupa Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Irvine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jurupa Hills will be playing in front of their home fans against Aliso Niguel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Aliso Niguel is ranked 217th, while Jurupa Hills is ranked 236th).
