BRADENTON, Fla. - the Hurricanes scored 35 points in the first quarter to secure a big 49-6 victory over Lakewood Ranch (Bradenton, Fla.) on Saturday.
Manatee scored on a
Trevon Walters touchdown run, a touchdown pass by
Cord Sandberg to
Ja Juan Pollock, a touchdown run by
Marquel Hines, a punt return touchdown by
Darryl Brookins and a Walters touchdown run in the quarter.
MHS was up 42-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Walters touchdown run in the first quarter.
With the win the Hurricanes extended their winning streak to 10 games. Manatee defeated the Sailors 51-9 last week.
Walters stood out for MHS in the win. The junior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 16 touchdowns on the season.
A'shawn Angel made a difference for the Mustangs. The freshman running back ran for one touchdown.
Lakewood Ranch's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Angel in the fourth quarter.
Led by
Derrick Calloway, the Hurricanes had given up an average of 12.9 points prior to the contest.
A 38-7 Manatee victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
