Prince of Peace moved up to 879 from 914 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in TAPPS Division II District 2. A 42-20 win over Bishop Gorman helped the Eagles improve their standing.
Dallas Christian extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Parish Episcopal, 42-35. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Grace Community's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Garrett Newman threw for 55 and one touchdown and Statler Lewis had 55 yards receiving. On the ground Kade Clayton chipped in 325 yards. Lin Gillham helped Grace Community's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
The Cougars' Blake White and Clayton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. White has thrown for 941 yards this season, while Clayton, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 19 catches for 378 yards. Taylor Nelson from Prince of Peace leads the league in rushing with 726 yards.
The top two teams in TAPPS Division II District 2 will face off this week when first place Dallas Christian takes on second place Prince of Peace. Dallas Christian bested the Panthers last week, while Larry Thexton's team topped the Crusaders.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Eagles take on Mike Wheeler's team. Prince of Peace's offense has scored 218 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Chargers have allowed only 56 on the year.
Brook Hill led the league in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Shelton.
