The win was all the more spectacular given Lipscomb Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Knights are ranked fourth).
Pope John Paul II lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Trey Pearson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Fred Bailey, who scored 24 points along with two steals.
Lipscomb Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Pope John Paul II, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-4.
