The Carroll Tigers lost against the Victoria East Titans last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Carroll took a 62-44 bruising from Victoria East. While losing is never fun, Carroll can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 898th, while Victoria East is ranked 257th).
Victoria East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kk Cleveland led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Cleveland has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Victoria East, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carroll will play host again and welcome Ray, where tip off is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Ray is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Victoria East, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Corpus Christi Moody at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Corpus Christi Moody focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 on Tuesday.
