Geneva has gone a perfect 10-0 against Master's Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Knights will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Geneva took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Orangewood Christian a 15-0 shutout. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Bella Ortiz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ortiz was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Bastian was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Briana Rodammer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Geneva always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orangewood Christian only posted an OBP of .100.
Meanwhile, Master's Academy hadn't done well against Lyman recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Greyhounds. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Like Geneva, Master's Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Reagan Peri. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Peri has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karina Morales, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Zoe Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Geneva's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Master's Academy, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Both Geneva and Master's Academy just can't seem to miss. The Knights have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Master's Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Geneva took their win against Master's Academy in their previous meeting last Monday by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
