Softball Recap: Colton Extends Winning Streak to Four

Colton waltzed into their match on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Xavier Prep Saints get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. Considering the Yellowjackets have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

JASMINE CHACON looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, VALERIE VARELA was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of NATALIE CALDERA, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Colton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Colton's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Xavier Prep, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colton will take on Rialto at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The contest will give the Yellowjackets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Xavier Prep, they will challenge Palm Desert at 6:30 p.m. on the 15th. The Aztecs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.25 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of.
