On Thursday, the Bingham Miners faced the Syracuse Titans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bingham fell just short of Syracuse by a score of 56-53. Bingham was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Syracuse apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Bingham lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brianna Badonie. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with three steals. The contest was Badonie's 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Horsley, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Cortnie Barker was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points for Syracuse. That makes it four consecutive games in which Barker has scored at least 25% of Syracuse's points. Another player making a difference was Avery Sanders, who scored nine points along with five assists and three steals.
Bingham's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Syracuse, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bingham will take on Copper Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Copper Hills' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches. Syracuse won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sky View at 5:15 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Sky View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday.
