St. James has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Hedgesville Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Tuesday, St. James was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-47 to Clinton Grace.
Meanwhile, Hedgesville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight defeat. Their rough 46-26 loss to Jefferson might stick with them for a while. That's two games in a row now that Hedgesville has lost by exactly 20 points.
Despite the loss, Hedgesville saw an underclassman step up: Gracie Brown scored six points along with ten rebounds.
St. James' defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Hedgesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
Things could have been worse for St. James, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-32 loss to Hedgesville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brown, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 19 rebounds, and ten steals. Now that St. James knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
