Baseball Recap: Fort Bragg Has No Trouble Against Upper Lake

Fort Bragg barely beat Upper Lake the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Fort Bragg was the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over Upper Lake on Friday. The Timberwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by nine runs or more this season.

Chris Hernandez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Dane Salo and Giancarlo Diaz did most of the damage at the plate: Salo scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Diaz scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Salo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Fosse, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Fort Bragg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Fort Bragg's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Upper Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
