Karns City has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Brookville Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Karns City strolled past Mount Union with points to spare, taking the game 34-19.
Karns City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Cramer out in front who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Hunter Scherer also helped out as he racked up 113 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Brookville entered their tilt with Ridgway/Johnsonburg with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Brookville breezed by Ridgway/Johnsonburg on the road to the tune of 35-6. The result was nothing new for Brookville, who have now won six contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brookville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayden Freeman, who picked up 208 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Freeman was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards. Charlie Krug was another key player, having thrown for 250 yards and three touchdowns.
Karns City's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Brookville, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2.
Karns City took a serious blow against Brookville when the teams last played back in October, falling 44-14. Can Karns City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
