The Marion County Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Adair County Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marion County has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Marion County had to settle for a 51-49 loss against Bardstown. Marion County has not had much luck with Bardstown recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, even though Metcalfe County scored an imposing 68 points on Wednesday, Adair County still came out on top. Adair County walked away with a 77-68 win over Metcalfe County. Given Adair County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Metcalfe County is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Adair County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Connor Loy, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine assists. Loy has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Gilbert, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds.
Marion County's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Adair County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
Marion County was dealt a bruising 91-35 defeat at the hands of Adair County in their previous matchup back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Marion County was down 51-10.
