The Los Fresnos Falcons will take on the Rio Hondo Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Los Fresnos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, everything went Los Fresnos' way against Port Isabel as Los Fresnos made off with a 17-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Jocelyne Arriaga and Viviana Gomez were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Arriaga struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Gomez tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave Arriaga a new career-high. At bat, Arriaga scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Gomez scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Los Fresnos got a massive performance out of Jadelynn Cortez, who scored four runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Cortez a new career-high in runs. Alexis Perez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Los Fresnos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .526 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Rio Hondo challenged La Feria on Tuesday. Rio Hondo lost 8-2 to La Feria. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost nine in a row.
Danielle Rocha made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Rebekah Zuniga, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
Rio Hondo's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Los Fresnos, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6-1.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Los Fresnos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Rio Hondo struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
