Rising Sun is 9-1 against Switzerland County since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Shiners will face off against the Pacers at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rising Sun has three straight wins, Switzerland County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Rising Sun came out on top against New Washington on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run first inning. The Shiners blew past the Mustangs 13-3. Considering the Shiners have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Rising Sun got a great performance from Avery Elliott as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Elliott has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elaina Titkemeyer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Merica, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Rising Sun kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
New Washington hit Switzerland County with a 13-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pacers lost 16-5 to the Mustangs.
Hayley Adams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Hayden Curl was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Switzerland County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rising Sun has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Switzerland County, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Rising Sun's sizable advantage in that area, the Pacers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Rising Sun got the 'W' when the teams last played on April 8th against Switzerland County by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Shiners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
