Basketball Recap: Greenville Christian Academy Skates Past Pitt County P with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Greenville Christian Academy on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Pitt County P Pacers out of the water with a 54-21 final score. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Pacers are ranked 570th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greenville Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Dove, who went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points. Dove is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Swanner, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Greenville Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Pitt County P saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landon Pike put up 11 points. That was a full 52.4% of Pitt County P's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Greenville Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Pitt County P, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Greenville Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Varsity Opponent at 1:45 p.m. on December 30th. Pitt County P will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Trinity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
