O'Fallon is a perfect 10-0 against East St. Louis since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Flyers at 4:30 p.m. O'Fallon will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
O'Fallon took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Collinsville. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Kennedy Clark made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Clark was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Schmitt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Allisyn Janning, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
O'Fallon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, East St. Louis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss. They lost 18-3 to Belleville West.
Jayona Scott was cooking despite her team's loss, earning two runs and four stolen bases.
O'Fallon's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-15. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for East St. Louis, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.
O'Fallon took their victory against East St. Louis in their previous matchup last Wednesday by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
