5A Intermountain recap Oct. 23, 2012
Redmond extended the longest winning streak in 5A Intermountain this week by beating Mountain View, 22-10. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Panthers.
Mountain View's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Toby Webb has thrown for 1533 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while John Carroll has 48 catches for 949 yards. Kyler Ayers leads the league in rushing with 1209 yards.
Carroll of the the Cougars' is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 51 receiving yards in this week's game against Bend to get there.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mountain View takes on the Lava Bears. As it stands, Brian Crum's team is in second, while Bend is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when the Cougars and Matt Craven's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Mountain View comes in having scored 265 this season, while the Lava Bears have scored 165. The Cougars scored 10 points last week as they fell to Redmond.
Dan Elliott's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,120 from 2,434. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 22-10 victory over Mountain View last week.
