After a string of four wins, the Seligman Antelopes's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Anthem Prep 60-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Seligman's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Carmelo Manakaja, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds, and Montae Walker who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Manakaja scored a full 47.3% of Seligman's points, the 14th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Anthem Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kj Bohn led the charge by scoring 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandt Schirm, who scored 14 points.
Seligman's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Anthem Prep, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Seligman won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against San Pasqual Valley at 9:00 a.m. on December 29, 2023. Anthem Prep and Veritas Prep will round out the year against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Hopefully Veritas Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
