On Thursday, East Central HomeSchool strolled past Ezekiel Academy with points to spare, taking the game 44-25.
East Central HomeSchool's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Emma Nelson, who scored 14 points along with six steals, and Hannah Bankston, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Nelson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emily Rea, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southern Christian came up short against Springwood last Monday and fell 49-36. While losing is never fun, Southern Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Springwood is ranked 122nd).
Southern Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Caylin Oswald, who scored 18 points along with three steals, and Chloe Oswald who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Oswald is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Southern Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
East Central HomeSchool pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.64 points. As for Southern Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Friday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: East Central HomeSchool have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Southern Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.6 rebounds per game.
