The Nederland Panthers were the 45-25 winner over the Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Nederland took a serious blow against Cripple Creek-Victor on Saturday, falling 62-28. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Nederland has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Nederland still got an impressive performance from Robert Akerley, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Davyn Meade, who scored six points.
Nederland struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cripple Creek-Victor to victory, but perhaps none more so than Myles Durham, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Woods, who scored 18 points.
Nederland bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Cripple Creek-Victor, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nederland will face off against Twin Peaks Charter Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Twin Peaks Charter Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 back in December of 2023. Cripple Creek-Victor is on the road again on Saturday and play against Denver Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 13th.
