Maize is 9-1 against the Railroaders since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Maize Eagles will be staying on the road to face off against the Newton Railroaders on February 6th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Maize suffered a rough 49-27 loss at the hands of the Mavericks. Maize has struggled against the Mavericks recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Newton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 77-52 walloping at the hands of Haysville Campus. While losing is never fun, Newton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Colts are ranked 37th).
Maize has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Newton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9-1.
Everything came up roses for Maize against the Railroaders in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 75-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maize since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
