The Rock River Longhorns and the Laramie Plainsmen will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Rock River has struggled recently with 20 losses in a row, while the Plainsmen will arrive with three straight victories.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-11, which was the final score in Rock River's tilt against the Cyclones on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rock River has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Laramie faced the Camels in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Laramie put the hurt on the Camels with a sharp 69-47 victory on Saturday. Laramie has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Laramie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Neil Summers out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Max Alexander was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Rock River dropped their record down to 0-12 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Laramie, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Rock River came up short against the Plainsmen when the teams last played back in December of 2017, falling 60-55. Can Rock River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
