If the Sequoia Charter Stallions were feeling good off their 62-31 takedown of American Heritage Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sequoia Charter took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Varsity Opponent on Monday.
Despite the loss, Sequoia Charter saw an underclassman step up: Asher Roehl dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Roehl scored a full 31% of Sequoia Charter's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Sequoia Charter now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Varsity Opponent, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 75-321-3.
Sequoia Charter will play host again and welcome BASIS - Peoria, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to face off against Independent Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
