Softball Recap: Cascade Has No Trouble Against Grundy County

Cascade won the last time they faced Grundy County and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Champions were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Yellowjackets. The Champions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Jocelyn Laughlin was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Laughlin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Caroline Parker was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Cascade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cascade now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Grundy County, they are on a 30-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Cascade does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grundy County, they will venture away from home to square off against South Pittsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
